    Description

This clear bowl features red-bordered squares and rectangles with gold starbursts within; it has been referred to as both "atomic starburst " and simply "starburst." Its maker is uncertain, but has been attributed to Jeannette/Glasbake, from the 1960s.
As compared to an ice bucket, this bowl is larger and has an irregular rim that varies in height, from 6 1/4" at its lowest points to 7" at its tallest points. It measures 9 3/8" x 8 1/2" across its opening. The base is rounded off and is about 5 3/8" in diameter.
One of the red squares has a pinprick hole, and another has two dark dots.  On the inside of the bowl (pic 6), there is either a manufacturing flaw or a surface chip; it can be felt but is not sharp, and was hard to spot. The base has surface wear. Review the photos.
This is a thick-walled bowl, and weighs nearly 4 1/2 lbs. Ice buckets with this pattern are rare but can be found -- but bowls such as this one are even rarer!
